(New undergraduate students with foreign nationalities who entered the fall semester) Procedures for school fees refund due to leave of absence/【外国籍の学部新入生対象(秋入学)】休学に伴う学費返金手続きについて

In case that a new student takes a leave of absence immediately after enrollment, full amount of school fees should be paid normally. However, if such foreign student takes a leave of absence due to coronavirus and satisfy designated conditions, Hosei University will refund the amount of difference between full amount of tuition and tuition fees for a leave of absence (50,000 yen for half a year) plus miscellaneous fees (may vary depending on each faculty).

Please make sure that you are eligible to apply, and follow necessary procedures.
If you take a leave of absence due to military service, please contact us. Different procedures will be necessary.

〇Eligibility
Student must
(1)have a foreign nationality (a student who has dual nationality of Japan and foreign country, or who has a resident status other than “student” will be also eligible)
(2)be admitted to take a leave of absence by the office of the faculty,
(3)live in the countries which Japanese immigration bureau bans entry from (China, Korea, etc.), and *This condition applies to students who could not enter Japan due to immigration restrictions, or who have entered Japan and gone back to their home countries before the immigration restrictions were imposed.
(4)be a new undergraduate student in 2020 academic year.

〇How to apply
(1)Submit the application form for a leave of absence to the office of your faculty. (Deadline: October 31)

Bank account in Japan: reverse side of the front page of your bankbook (the page showing your account number)
Overseas bank account: documents showing your account information
・Documents showing your current residence
例)Chinese students: address in your Resident ID (居民身分証)
Korean students: address in your Resident Registration Certificate (住民登録証)

入学直後に休学する場合、通常は学費を全額支払う必要がありますが、 今回コロナウイルスに伴い休学する外国籍の学生の中で所定の条件を満たす場合、 学費と休学在籍料(半期5万円、年間10万円)・諸会費(学部により異なる)の差額を返金いたします。

以下条件をご確認いただき、申請ください。
なお、兵役による休学の方は別の手続きになりますので、該当の方はご連絡ください。

〇申請条件
(1)外国籍を有すること(日本との二重国籍者、在留資格「留学」以外の方も含みます)
(2)所属学部より休学が認められること
(3)出入国在留管理庁が定める上陸拒否の対象となる国(中国・韓国等)に居住していること 入国制限により渡日ができなかった方、入国制限前に渡日し帰国した方で、現在母国に滞在している方等が対象です。
(4)2020年度学部入学者であること

韓国の方:住民登録証の住所欄
